DISSENTER’S HOPE

Dissenter’s Hope is a homage to the honorable Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg. At the beginning of September, when I first received the skull, I intuited that it should  possess a strong female presence–I had not intended to dedicate the skull to RGB until her passing later that month. The female cardinal depicted on several areas of the skull, is representative of the spiritual belief that the deceased visit the earth in the form of a cardinal. The cardinal is also representative of Ginsburg’s legacy and her definition of feminism: the freedom to be who women want to be without artificial barriers or manmade limitations.
