RUBIO
Rubio is a Contemporary Chicano Artist, San Antonio born and raised in the West Side. As an arts organizer, Rubio has instructed and coordinated local community-based public art programming through non-profit arts organizations. Rubio has mentored area high school youth in studio art techniques, public art commissions and early exhibition experience with the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, San Anto Cultural Arts Organization, Contemporary at Blue Star, San Antonio Street Art Initiative, Youth Arts Program.
Rubio’s artwork has been exhibited locally at the San Antonio Museum of Art, the McNay Art Museum and the Contemporary at Blue Star.
Rubio’s work is also featured in national touring exhibitions, including those of the private collections of Cheech Marin and Joe A. Diaz.
Rubio has received national recognition with grants from the Joan Mitchell Foundation and the Vermont Studio Center Fellowship. Rubio was curated into the Artpace International Artist-in-Residency Program and Artpace, London Travel Grant and the Contemporary, Berlin Residency.
