LEGACY
I wanted to stay true with the flow within my studio, which is a narrative of what legacy, heirlooms and ownership mean to our people and the paths set by them or by the lack of them. The visual narrative depicts growth and protection of our soil that nurtures our soul. Vine like arms and plants break through and reset barriers, barriers made by outside beings as well as our own that we pass down through generations. With the tear down and resetting of barriers and obstacles, our self worth increases and the knowledge and respect for retaining what we own becomes priority to improving the paths of the next generation. What I own, is the experience of learning of art in my elementary school library. I opened up a book and discovered Vincent Van Gogh. I own that, I was impacted by that and I will hold onto that until my last days.
